In my opinion, I believe that when a person goes out of their way time and time again just to give an extra hand to someone in need, stepping into that individual's shoes without any hesitation, to feel the pain they are enduring, and offering the best advice they can, is truly showing compassion. Unfortunately, in this evil world, many chose not to show compassion to others. They rather choose to worry about themselves and their own problems. Sooner or later that group of people will realize that receiving compassion from others can brighten their life.

Ever since I was a little girl, my parents taught me to always be compassionate. They would use their stories from the past to encourage me to spread positivity and kindness where it's needed. On top of that, not only would my parents tell me all about compassion but they would show it. I see them show compassion to others around them all the time, whether it's people they know or complete strangers. For example, my parents have offered to help even if it was something small like a conversation, donating clothes, buying someone's meal, giving money etc. My parents grew up with little to nothing, they didn't have the opportunities that I do now. They didn't have the access or the resources that I have, but that wasn't an excuse for them.

As they grew older they were able to change their lives completely for the better while also maintaining a great mindset regardless of what they were going through. My parents are the most humble people that I have ever met in my 17 years of life. They are able to understand on a deeper level when it comes to helping others in need because that was once them at their lowest. I credit my parents for planting the seed of compassion in me, that I can now spread to others and make this world a more positive place little by little..

There have been numerous times where I have shown compassion to others but none was shown in return. I grew to learn that I am not the only individual who goes through challenges and that many are still working on their journey to develop the quality of compassion. I believe that our purpose in life as humans is to work together to spread kindness, peace and support, not just within ourselves or our loved ones but in strangers too. As I get older and older everyday, the more I become aware of those next to me as well as their behavior and emotions. I now understand that when difficult times appear, the best way to go through them would be with others, not alone.

Ever since the third grade, I have dreamt of becoming a nurse. Fast forward to now, less than a week until I become a new graduate of FMHS, I still have that dream and soon it is to become a reality. I chose this specific path not only for the money and opportunities that come with it but to fulfill my purpose in life. Knowing that I have the ability to make a change in so many lives automatically gives me joy. Becoming a nurse or any health care worker is a good way of getting the proper understanding of compassion as they show it every single day.

Although it may be difficult to show compassion at times when you have your own struggles to deal with, maturing is realizing that it's better to go through the challenges with the help of others and not alone. If people would be more kind to one another and won't hesitate to help, the world would be a much happier and healthier place.
